Financial Reporting Accountant

Our client is a high growth acquisitive business which develops and distributes a portfolio of advanced medical products worldwide. With current turnover c£70m and with ambitions to become one of the top 5 in its sector globally the business operates from offices in North and South America, Europe, South East Asia and Australia.

A technically capable (including IFRS) ACA or ACCA with one to three years’ post qualification experience is now required to coordinate the production of the Group’s monthly management accounts and take a lead on statutory accounts compliance for the Group’s UK companies and certain overseas subsidiaries.


Reporting to the Head of Finance, key responsibilities include:-

Monthly duties

  • Perform the group consolidation, for circa 20 UK and overseas entities on a monthly basis, ensuring compliance with IFRS
  • Complete three overseas sub-consolidations
  • Prepare the group monthly management accounts, including analysis of subsidiary and group performance
  • Reconcile group accounts to the business intelligence system
  • Ensure that all intercompany balances reconcile across the group
  • Take responsibility for certain areas of the balance sheet, ensuring reconciliations are performed on a timely basis

Group compliance

  • Prepare the year end statutory accounts (IFRS) for the group and its UK subsidiaries
  • Assist with the management of the year end audit process, acting as a key point of contact during the audit
  • Prepare statutory accounts for certain overseas subsidiaries and liaise with advisors in those territories
  • Liaise with overseas subsidiaries to ensure consistent accounting across the group
  • Develop Group Accounting Policies and ensuring compliance with accounting standards
  • Assist in developing and implementing a robust financial control framework to facilitate accounting rigour
  • Assist the Group Tax Manager in the completion of taxation returns


  • Produce financial data & reports for Group’s owners in China, Directors and other departments on request
  • Support business development activities, including the integration of subsidiary and product acquisitions
  • Ad-hoc commercial and operational analysis


The successful candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Be a qualified chartered accountant with detailed understanding of accounting standards and some experience of IFRS
  • Have experience of a large, international group environment
  • Display the ability to develop strong relationships with other stakeholders, in particular be able to demonstrate appreciation of cultural differences when dealing with overseas colleagues and advisors
  • Display the ability to be adaptable and resilient to change in a growing group environment
  • Be self-motivated and able to work as part of a small team, managing multiple tasks
  • Have strong excel skills
  • Be able to understand complex business processes and assess the financial impact of decisions
  • Have a basic knowledge of corporation tax and VAT

This is an excellent role through which to develop experience for a subsequent move towards a Financial Controller role in due course and an interesting time to join the business as it executes its ambitious expansion strategy.
