MDM Resourcing’s exclusive client is one of the leading manufacturers in its niche specialism. With a high quality corporate customer base, and an excellent management team, the business is working towards a PE debt fund exit in c3 years’ time.

As number 2 to the Finance Director, with responsibility for timely, incisive, high quality financial information, high quality integrated internal controls, systems and processes and well-controlled finances.  Internal systems improvements and reporting enhancements will be key requirements of the role together with tight controls and processes around cash management and reporting.

Managing a small transactional team and an Assistant Accountant, this will be a hands-on role in a progressive and fast moving business where day to day focus will be on month-end duties, team leadership / management, financial controls and future risk mitigation, in addition to being instrumental in the continuous improvement journey of the business and the finance function.

The Role

  • Leading the preparation of monthly management accounts;
  • KPI, cash flows, budgeting and forecasting;
  • Being instrumental in managing cash and working capital;
  • Managing a team of 5, ensuring work is completed correctly and to deadlines, and that the team is driving improvements in processing efficiency which ultimately benefit working capital;
  • Year end procedures including liaising with auditors and preparation of statutory accounts for a small group of 4 entities;
  • Ad hoc reporting across various aspects of finance, presenting to the FD;
  • Controlling all elements of site finance including looking after key control accounts, stock controls and margin reporting / analysis;
  • Liaising and working with key stakeholders including suppliers, customers and other departments/the board;
  • Overseeing month end payroll process.

The Candidate

  • ACA / CIMA / ACCA qualified is essential;
  • Previous experience of manufacturing essential and experience of successfully managing a small team is advantageous;
  • Experience of, or demonstrable aptitude for, implementing financial controls, KPIs and risk mitigation also preferrable;
  • Proficient in Excel;
  • Pro-active with a drive to improve systems, processes and output to benefit the business;
  • Excellent communication skills with a forward thinking, pro-active attitude.

This is an excellent role to develop your FD credentials - it is a number 2 rolw with FD succession plan following the majority investor's exit in c3 years' time.

Please Note: The company will only consider applicants who live within commutable distance of Bolton, although the business will offer some hybrod working.
