Finance Director - Equity incentive

MDM Resourcing are exclusively recruiting a Finance Director role which offers the opportunity to play a broad “business management” role in supporting the growth of an exceptional business that is driving substantial value creation for its shareholders and making a huge impact in its sector.

The Business

This is an exceptional business that is significantly disrupting the large B2B market sector in which it operates. Currently debt free and cash generative, the business is in discussions with both Private Equity and Debt financiers with a view to enabling the exit of a major founding shareholder and providing growth capital.

With current EBITDA >£6.5m, the business is creating substantial capital value through successfully delivering on a business plan that has already quadrupled EBITDA over the last 2 years and aims to deliver a further trebling of EBITDA over the next 4 years.

To date all growth has been organic but strategic acquisitions are also possible in the medium term.

The business is now seeking to appoint its first Finance Director to partner the Managing Director in developing and implementing business strategy.

The Role

The Finance Director will be responsible for all aspects of Finance as well as supporting Operations and ensuring that a suitable IT strategy is in place and delivered.  

Key responsibilities encompass ensuring that the following areas are managed and delivered to a high standard and are fit for the current and planned scale and complexity of the business:

• Development of business strategy in conjunction with the Managing Director
• Development of Finance and Non-Finance systems
• Efficient business processes and a robust financial control regime
• Decision support through relevant Management Information including insightful KPIs and Business Intelligence
• Working capital and cashflow management (including stock)
• Commercially supporting sales and operations
• Managing relationships with key external stakeholders (banks, investors, auditors, lawyers)
• Business risk management (including foreign exchange risk management)

The Candidate

The preferred candidate will be a commercially astute qualified accountant with the following profile:

• Has worked either as Finance Director or (experienced) Financial Controller in a mid-market  growth business – experience in a PE backed or leveraged business would be useful;
• Understands the dynamics and data requirements of both partnering a driven leadership team and supporting the requirements of external finance stakeholders (PE and/or lenders);
• Has gained the above experience in a product business (ie holds stock) - advantageous but not essential;
• Experience of foreign exchange risk management – advantageous but not essential;
• Understands the system and process implications of a rapidly scaling up business;
• Strong relationship building, communication and presentational skills.
